With your help, we can make a positive difference in schools and communities across the Commonwealth.
Since 2007, the Kentucky Green and Healthy Schools (KGHS) program (greenschools.ky.gov) has been successfully empowering students to create healthier, more sustainable learning environments at their schools. There are over 265 schools enrolled in the KGHS program. As participants, students and staff implement service-learning projects that improve areas such as solid waste management, energy efficiency, water conservation, and green spaces at their schools. Through KGHS, students work as a team to solve real-world problems and implement solutions in their communities.
All sponsorship funds support the KGHS program in areas of greatest need. Each year students showcase their service learning projects and receive recognition for their work at the Youth Summit and Awards Luncheon, co-hosted by The Kentucky Environmental Education Council (KEEC) and the KY National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project.
