Tichenor Middle School Energy Club is an after school club
comprised of 6-8 Grade students. The club works to promote energy
education and efficiency for their school and community. Through the
Kentucky Green & Healthy schools program, club members have found ways to save energy
at school. The team started with the Energy Inventory and found that most of peoples'
energy problems were related to human behavior/choices.
The Energy Club continues to work on educating school teachers, staff, and students about
ways that they can help reduce energy use at school and at home. The club has also installed two rain collection barrels (thanks to the grants received from
KGHS) to water the plants in the school courtyard and side building, reducing their use
of treated water. The Energy Club continues work on other investigations, and looks forward to continuing their partnership and participation
with the KGHS program.
